Apply for Tinkergarten Teaching Job

When I was applying for Tinkergarten, a play based nature organization, I looked all over the web trying to find out what the application process was like, to find out what I should expect.
Do you hear those crickets?
This blog post, and a few others, will be talking about my application and training process with Tinkergarten.  First I want to make it clear that Tinkergarten is in no way a Pyramid Business.
You are selling nothing but your classes and even then you have an entire marketing team to help you!

Applying:

It is super easy to send your application in here: Become a Tinkergarten Leader. Its a pretty average application.  They are looking for positive and motivated individuals who have a background in working with children.  No degree required but a passion for nature is recommended.  After you apply watch your inbox!  You will be getting an e-mail to set up a time for a pre-interview voice call.

Voice Call:

  •      Why do you want to do this?
  •      What is your experience with children?
  •      Nature?
  •      What area are you in?
They will probably ask you a few other typical interview questions but overall the pre-interview is pretty short.  Mine lasted about 10 minuets, but they do quote you 30.  If you fit the bill they will set you up with a video call on Zoom.  You will have a few times and dates to pick from, make sure you you look at the time zones!  Mine was about a week out.

Video Call:

In the video call you will be asked the same basic questions again but then they will throw in some creative thinking questions about how you will handle certain situations.  For example:

  • Shy Children
  • Parents
  • Wandering Children
  • Strong emotions
Don't stress to much, they just want to make sure you have the same philosophy as their program.  I highly suggest browsing threw their Site.  It is a very casual interview where they are trying to get a better feel for YOU.  They plan on training you to handle the situations that they are asking you about, so just be yourself!
If you answer to their satisfaction then you will get an e-mail about making your video!  I will do another blog about my video soon!

Let me know if your applying and if this helped!  Also if you have applied and have any other advice please let me know so I can add it!

UPDATE: Someone has informed me that the process has changed a bit.  The person in question did not need to do a voice call, it went right to a video call.  After that she had to watch the video and got asked three simple question about her thoughts on the video.  She then had another video cal to discuss the answers that she gave to these questions.

Please let me know if you notice that your interview has any differences and your thoughts on it!

See you next time on a Natural Parents Toolbox

    1. What was the video interview like? What type of questions were asked? I get so nervous during interviews. I think this is such a wonderful program and just not offered in our area - I want to be able to give children/parents the opportunity to experience it all.
